When I returned from Egypt, I could not stop thinking about bringing Egyptian perfume oils to South Africa. I wanted to create something special, right down to the bottle you would hold in your hand.
What followed was almost four years of preparation: flights to Egypt, research, meetings, fragrance testing and countless evenings working after my full-time PR job.
For two years, I searched for a supplier who could create the fragrances I imagined. Then I met our perfumer in the Middle East, Hisham, and those ideas began taking shape.
We worked on packaging that would celebrate and protect our delicate bottles.
Those beginnings gave us the "Original 10":
1. Blossom — playful strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and cherry.
2. White Musk — gentle florals with musk, woods and vanilla.
3. White Oud — citrus and pepper with amber, sandalwood and agarwood.
4. Sabine — orange flower, jasmine and citrus with white honey.
5. Clarise Pink — fresh citrus blossom, green tea and a floral heart.
6. Kirei — Egyptian Jasmine with berries, citrus and fuller florals.
7. Dark Gem — warm spice, flowers, coconut and amber.
8. Isea — airy melon, lotus and florals over musk and woods.
9. Cherry Aura — cherries and berries with vanilla, coconut and flowers.
10. Darling — neroli, vanilla and pimento with tiare flowers, musk and lavender.
Each has its own character. Together, they tell the story of where Tapputi began.
